Tooth whitening at The Park Practice dental practice Glasgow West End

The Park Practice offers the latest and safest tooth whitening techniques in the West End of Glasgow. We can help give you the perfect smile you always wanted. From experience we have found that better, safer results come from home teeth whitening kits. Brighten your smile using comfortable mouth trays which can be worn while you sleep or during the day.

Our home tooth whitening kits are a world away from the bleaching kits sold by chemists. Special mouth trays are custom-made to fit your teeth perfectly. Optident Gel is applied to the trays and can be worn for anything from one hour to overnight. The level of brightness is controlled by how often you decide to use the method. It is far more effective, and safer, than any product available on the high street. We also offer surgery support if you have any queries or need advice. Achieve a dazzling transformation with safe, custom-made tooth whitening kits from The Park Practice.

Getting started on tooth whitening
  1. First of all your dentist will take moulds of your mouth by filling plastic gum plates with a rubbery liquid. These do not obstruct your breathing or taste unpleasant.
  2. Once your moulds have been taken they will be sent off to a laboratory where they are filled with plaster and cast to recreate an exact replica of your teeth. Rubber moulds will then be created specifically for your mouth from these plaster casts.
  3. Once your moulds have been created and returned to The Park Practice, your dentist will show you how to apply the gel to the plates and how to insert, remove and clean the plates each day.

The tooth bleaching or whitening process

You need to wear your personal teeth whitening trays for a minimum of 3 hours per day, on a daily basis, for between 1 to 2 weeks. At The Park Practice we advise you to wear your trays during the night to prevent them hindering your daily schedule. However, the trays can be worn for longer with no detrimental effect to your teeth or gums.

Daily routine:

  1. Follow your hygienist’s recommended routine and brush your teeth, then floss and rinse with mouthwash.
  2. Apply a small amount of the tooth whitening bleach to each tooth section of your personal teeth whitening tray.
  3. Insert the trays and leave for a minimum of 3 hours.
  4. After 3 hours (or when you wake up), remove your bleaching trays and rinse out your mouth with water, using a toothbrush or your finger to remove excess bleaching gel from your teeth.

If your teeth become sensitive at any stage (this sometimes happens towards the end of the treatment) simply take a day or two off from wearing the plates with the whitening gel. Fill the plates with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth such as Colgate sensitive whitening instead.
